We are excited to announce our USD 258 Kansas Teacher of the Year nominee, Mrs. Mikaela Walden. Mrs. Walden has been teaching at Humboldt Elementary School for 7 years, with 6 years in 1st grade and is currently teaching 2nd grade. Here are what others had to say about Mikaela:
🧡 Mrs. Walden has made a lasting impact on our daughter’s life. She is often remembered and talked about as a teacher who truly made a difference—not only academically, but also in building confidence and fostering a love of learning. We are deeply grateful for the dedication, compassion, and excellence she brings to her students.
🖤 Mikaela not only provides a loving, caring, safe, and FUN learning environment for her students every single day, but she also offers meaningful and effective instruction every single moment. She uses even the smallest moment such as walking in the hallway to practice skills in a fun way. Mikaela is always reflecting and collaborating with peers to best meet the needs of all of her students. Her vibrant personality is contagious and you can feel it when you walk into her inviting classroom.
Congratulations, Mrs. Walden and thank you for all that you continue to do for the students in USD 258!

The final Constitution Day activity is usually a scavenger hunt created by former MS social studies teacher, Scott Brady. Adverse weather forced us inside so kids enjoyed a historical-themed movie and pizza lunch from Opies.

Thirty-two HHS student journalists attended the 2025 KSPA Fall Conference at KU today, where we received the program’s 15th consecutive state trophy. This is one of the largest groups in Humboldt history to attend fall conference. Students had an amazing time learning from journalists, professors, professionals and more.
