This past Friday, August 30th, Mr. Jones started teaching his 6th grade general music class about the art of Bucket Drumming. This is a form of art that they will get to learn a lot about and even perform in this style in the fall concert this year.

Mrs. Nickell's Culinary Arts 2 class got to break in the new stoves by making browned butter chocolate chip cookies! 🍪

We are planning a controlled dismissal today at all buildings. Students are allowed to continue with their normal plans after school, but students riding the bus or getting picked up will wait inside the building. If you would like to change plans for your child, please contact the school office.
Mr Jones is teaching rhythm in choir class today with buckets and sticks. Students are enjoying this hands on learning experience while also learning how to read and understand music.


We want to inform you that USD 258 schools are currently in a modified lockdown. A broad threat was made to area schools, with no specific details given. Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased police presence at each school, and students will remain inside the buildings throughout the day.

Mrs. Cooks 2nd grade class reached 1000 Dojo points today and got to spin the "Wheel of Fun"! They earned Lunch in the Classroom!! Way to go kids!

Mr.Weilert's 8th Grade STEM class is soaring through the hallway. Today they are testing their first prototype and working through their design process.



Ice cream you scream we all scream for ice cream. The following Operation Orange recipients received an ice cream ticket to use at the ale carte. This weeks students were recognized for helping their peers in need, pushing in chairs, helping teachers with classroom clean up, and improving their efforts and attitudes. Do you spy Mr.James he was recognized for going above and beyond helping a student get through a frustrating moment! WOW we are HMS PROUD!


The HMS Volleyball Team is ready for their home opener tonight 🏐 against Neodesha.

Today in Mr Seufert's social studies the 6th graders worked collaboratively and made their own hunter gatherer shelters.
