4th grade got to work with our preschool classes today! It was an AMAZING time!





Students in Family Studies have been working on our Flower Pots and Families project. They compared their similarities, decorated their own pots, then looked up family crisis statistics. When they read their statistic, they dropped their pot (in a bag) and broke it. Now they are working on looking up family crisis resources and putting their pot back together. It takes time and patience, and will never be exactly the same, but it can be put back together.


Exciting news: The Jerd banquet, celebrating accomplishments of journalism students throughout the 2024-2025 school year, will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the fieldhouse. More details to come. Reach out to Mrs. Phillips with any questions.

Students in Nutrition and Wellness have been learning about the impact of staying physically active over their entire lifespan. After talking about flexibility training, we invited in Callee Kaufman from the Humboldt Fitness Center to lead the class in some yoga.

Chemistry students toured the ethanol plant in Garnett today. After producing and burning their own in class, they saw how it's done on a large scale.





HES has a lot of great high school helpers this year, but I'm especially thankful for mine. My oldest son, Colden, helps during 5th hour every day.

Students in 8th grade STEM are making a cobra weave to demonstrate potential and kinetic energy.
