Student had a figurative language contest, partnering up to determine who had the strongest figurative language then sticking with their partner to cheer them on! It got very competitive 📝✍️📓

Chemistry students toured the ethanol plant in Garnett today. After producing and burning their own in class, they saw how it's done on a large scale.

HES has a lot of great high school helpers this year, but I'm especially thankful for mine. My oldest son, Colden, helps during 5th hour every day.

Students in 8th grade STEM are making a cobra weave to demonstrate potential and kinetic energy.

7th grade students are designing their own side kicks in Art Explorations.

Preschool students in Mrs. Suefert's class are learning out community helpers, we set up a Dr. Office in one of our centers.

Students in Family Studies have been talking about stress in families, how to cope, and where to turn for help. They got to play this interactive Family Stress Jenga. On their turn, they had to draw a card with a stressful scenario and a number - which represented how many blocks they had to pull. Once all scenarios had been played out, they got to discuss and reflect on the situations they were in and how it might relate to the saying "the straw that broke the camels back".

Senior Bailey Croisant, one of HHS Multimedia's photography editors, designs the board that tracks staff photography events over the course of each month. She picked a Christmas light theme for November/December. Thank you Bailey for sharing your art and photography skills with us all!

Students in 2nd and 7th hour Nutrition and Wellness are learning about why it's important to be physically active and its lifelong benefits. Today, we had an active "brain break" during our slides and students got to participate in some Just Dance!

This month, HES is focusing on teamwork. I had a challenge today where they had to work together to complete the challenge! They could not break the chain (linked arms/hands) nor let the hula hoop touch the ground. We talked about how important it is to communicate in order to work together effectively!
