I started piano in second grade. So far, I have had three teachers. My current teacher is Mrs. Priebe in Chanute. My sister and I go to her house once a week for lessons. I usually do two contests, one for 4-H and one at the Mid-America Music Festival, and two recitals a year. Earlier this year, I participated in 4-H Club Days with a piano solo and received a blue. At the Music Festival my solo received a I. I is the best and III is the worst. I plan to continue playing, as something fun to do as well as a way to get my stress out after a day of school. I learned clarinet in sixth grade band. I played a solo at the County Club Days for 4-H and got a red. I did the same solo, a clarinet trio, and played in the band at the Mid-America Music Festival. On my solo I received a I, the trio got a II, and the band got a I. I played with the high school band at their state band contest. The band recieved a II rating. This summer I am playing in the Iola Community Band. Next year I'm going to play clarinet in the high school band, and I'm also planning on learning how to play the saxophone so I can participate with the Jazz Band. Back to Top.
