2006 Past Activities

Friday, June 9

7 p.m.: Mount Hope Cemetery, north of Humboldt on Exit Road 224, north side of road. Watch for entrance. Special Memorial honoring Territorial and Civil War Civilians and Military. Representatives of Sons of Confederate and Union Veterans will make presentations.

Saturday, June 10

Color Guard Opening & Arrival of President Lincoln, in Humboldt, Kansas, 10:00 a.m.

Reenactments of 1861 Raid on Humboldt, 10:30 a.m. and Burning of Humboldt, 4:30 p.m.

Civil War Dance with the Free State Band and caller. 7-10 p.m. - all invited

Held in South Park (formerly Camp Hunter/Logtown) at west end of Pine Street.

Sunday, June 11

1:30 to 4 p.m.: Tours at Humboldt Historical Museum - 5 buildings at 2nd and Neosho

1:00 and 3 p.m.: 12-site Civil War Tour. Meet tour leader at NW corner of City Square at monument.

1:00 to 4 p.m.: Patrick Haire, cabinetmaker, hosts a working museum with 1800s machinery, on the square at 8th & New York.


Humboldt, KS is located between Chanute and Iola, KS on Hwy 169, Exit 224.
