Elks Legacy Award

American Legion Scholarships
The following four scholarships are available to high school seniors who are in need of financial assistance and plan to enroll in an approved junior college, college, university, or trade school located in the state of Kansas. William Preston & Belvah McFadden Scholarship
Applicants must be a resident of Allen County, Kansas or a child of a resident of Allen County, Kansas. Students can not have classroom credits from any community college, nor can they take community college classes during the period they are receiving McFadden Scholarship Money. Students must plan to attend, as a full-time student, a four year college or university that is part of the state of Kansas Board of Regents system (Emporia, Fort Hays, KU, K-State, Pitt State, Washburn, or Wichita) and have taken the ACT. Scholarships are available in the following areas: 1). Teaching: Students must be at least a junior in college in the Fall 2009 semester and be in the teacher education program. (Graduate students are not available). 2). Bookkeeping: Students must enter a qualifying bookkeeping program at a Kansas educational institution offering such a curriculum for post-high school students. 3). Carpentry: Students must enroll in a qualifying carpentry, building construction technology, or building trades curriculum at a Kansas educational institution offering such a curriculum for post-high school students. US Army Reserves
Currently will pay students full tuition/books/fees at almost any college/university/vo-tech/two year school in the United States (up to $4500/year), give them up to $20,000 sign on bonus, a monthly stypen of up to $329/month, a GI Bill Kicker or up to $350/month and students must commit to one weekend a month for six years, some students may apply for a deployment deferrment for up to three years guaranteeing them they can not be deployed for three years.
