Kay Bolt

I grew up in Chanute, Kansas and graduated from Chanute High School in 1981. I attended Neosho County Community College where I received my Associate Arts Degree in 1983. I then attended Pittsburg State University and graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1985. I received my Masters Degree in Administration in 1998 and then recieved my Superintendent Endorsement in 2005.

I taught kindergarten and first grade in the Altoona-Midway School District for 13 years. I also became the K-8 principal there for two years before moving to Iola. In 2000, I moved to Iola and became the principal of LaHarpe Elementary and McKinley Elementary. I stayed for two years and then became the Humboldt Elementary Principal in Humboldt, Kansas in 2002. I have been the principal in Humboldt for the last 11 years. I am currently the middle school principal as well.

I am the mother of two children. My daughter, Kelsey, is married to Caleb Boulware and they live in Cherokee, Kansas. She teaches 1st grade in Columbus and they have a son named Drake. My son, Kellen, is attending Northwestern University in Chicago and is majoring in English. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and friends, I like to garden, ride bikes, run, and go antique shopping.

Building Goals: 

I. To develop and expand the teacher’s knowledge and skills in early childhood.

II. To develop and expand the teacher’s knowledge in teaching children self help and building intrapersonal skills.

III. The staff will emphasize the importance on supporting children’s motivation to learn and to help them to develop positive dispositions toward learning.
