Members of FFA have been working hard to end their school year on a good note. In addition to competing at State CDE’s at Kansas State University earlier this week, the group has been selling various plants such as flowers and vegetables from the greenhouse for the second year in a row.

“Sales are going pretty well,” said Staci Collins, sr. “It takes a lot of work to raise flowers, and you learn a lot about them by having to water them and to know how to take care of the ones that are in need of replanting.”

The money raised from these sales goes toward FFA activities. Sales began April 28 and will continue throughout the rest of the school year.

Thirteen members competed at Kansas State in competitions ranging from dairy products to entomology. Results from the contest were not available at press time, however.

“It’s been a fun experience and we’ve learned a lot,” said Britany Sellman, sr. “We had to study hard to do good in our competitions.”

Up next for the group will be the State FFA convention at Manhattan from May 27-30.
