Both band and choir members performed in front of judges.

After playing, they were given critiques by a judge to help them improve their skills for future performances.

“I think the band played pretty well. Performing in front of a judge is always a little different than playing in class,” said Melton.

The choir also sang two pieces: “Dream that Children Dream” by Ruth Elaine Schram and Celsie Staggers and “Let There be Song” written by Dave and Jean Perry.

“I felt silly when Melany and I had to bark like a dog, but I felt like we learned a lot about proper breathing techniques to make us sound better. We were nervous, but it turned out okay,” said Morris.

Also discussed at the meeting was a plan to expand technology in the classrooms, developing a mentoring program for teachers, and continuing tutoring programs for students with low State Assessment scores.

K.B. Criss, high school principal, led the Board on a tour of the newly renovated areas of the building.

The Board was very pleased with the work done.
