StuCo members volunteer
in Pittsburg
By Katie Hauser, sr.
Editor-in-Chief
Although students had a chance to relax last Friday with their
day out of school, StuCo members instead loaded onto the Sprinter to travel
to Pittsburg so they could help at the Special Olympics. Seniors Michaela
Myer, Janelle Herder, Chelsy Wright, and Sami Kerns, as well as Drake Tilman,
jr., Todd Hauser, so., and Bryce Smith, fr., donated their time. Jason Feeback
and Travis Burk attended as sponsors.
The students helped to run the events. Some events were basketball drills
to see how fast the participants could dribble 100 yards or to see how many
times they could bounce the ball in 60 seconds. Some of the groups played
an actual game of basketball.
“ The part I enjoyed to most about the Special Olympics was getting
to spend time helping all the participants,” said Kerns. “It really
made me feel good about myself while having fun.”

traveled to Pittsburg last Friday to participate
in
this community service opportunity.
Throughout the halls and in some classrooms, students may have
noticed signs encouraging them to do well on the state assessments. StuCo
members gathered on March 6 to make these signs.
“ The signs look great,” said Feeback.
Next year, new officers will take over the operation of StuCo. Students interested
in becoming an officer need to sign up in Feeback’s office by April
6. Presidential candidates will give a speech to the students on April 19
during seminar, and the election will be held on April 20 during lunch.

leave my house for a long period of time,” said Kaufman. “I plan
to major in business and to have some fun living it up in college.”

Looking
