Nineteen students from the publications department participated in the Kansas Scholastic Press Association’s Regional competition on Feb. 22.

Thirteen students placed at the meet. They will compete at the state level in various categories relevant to skills used in photography, yearbook, and newspaper classes.

“Our publications students should be proud of their accomplishments at Regionals,” said Kim Isbell, publications adviser.

“They have worked hard this year to carry on the positive tradition of Humboldt journalism, and they deserve recognition for their efforts.”

Overall, Chase County High School took first as a team with a total of 66 points. Humboldt took second place with 59 points, and Canton-Galva followed in third place with 30.

Participants who placed at Regionals will compete at State on May 5 in Lawrence for a chance to place both individually and as a team in the Sweepstakes competition.

“I am expecting to do my best at State, and hopefully I will be able to place within the top three in my competitions,” said Daniel Weilert, jr.

On March 9, parent/teacher conferences for all schools will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon.

Spring Break will be from March 19-23 this year.

April’s schedule is also full of twists and turns. An early out will be on April 11 for inservice and there will be no school held on April 6.
