Five members of FCCLA traveled to Iola on Feb. 14 to take part in STAR Events.

Students who participated were freshmen Mary Hauser, Kim Johnston and Glendolyn Neely. Sarah Works, jr., and Janelle Herder, sr., also participated in the Event.

Neely placed first for her recitation of the FCCLA creed, and her interpretation of what the creed means.

This honor will allow her to compete at the State level on April 2.

sold carnations and Crush cans to students who wanted to buy presents for Valentine’s Day.
All the money received from the gifts went directly to the Lindsey Friederich fund.

“I’m very excited and also a little nervous about going to State,” said Neely. “To prepare for State contest I’m going to say the creed over and over and practice a lot.”

Works judged for the chapter service project, while Herder was a timer. Hauser and Johnston attended to encourage their teammates and watch participants give their projects in front of the judges.

“I enjoy FCCLA because it gives us a chance to grow in speaking in front of large groups, and because it will help us when we choose a college and show that we were active during high school,” said Johnston. “I will defiantly be joining FCCLA next year because I plan to get involved.”

The FCCLA team is gearing up for the State competition which will take place in Wichita in April.

Forensics competed in a meet against 16 schools on Feb. 17. The students attending were Todd Hauser, so., Bret Hauser, fr., Mary Hauser, fr., Emily Hauser, jr., and Micah Poovey, so.,

Although none of the members placed at the meet, they gained experience that can help them at future competitions.
