As many families get into the holiday spirit, so has the music department.

Choir members have been singing at various events this month. On Dec. 11, they sang at the Lion’s Club Christmas dinner. They also caroled at Pinecrest Nursing Home yesterday.

The annual winter concert was held on Dec. 14. Bands and choirs from both the middle and high schools performed in the gymnasium.

The high school choir sang two numbers in the concernt. They were also part of a combined choir made up of all the choir students in the middle school and high school.

High school band students played three seasonal songs.

TFFA members headed off to the Allen County Community College for a speech meet and farm management on Dec. 7. Six FFA members attended the Speech and Farm Management meetings.

Two of FFA members placed in the speech competition. Josh Gillespie, sr., placed seventh in the senior speech and sixth in the extemporaneous speech. Glendolyn Neely, fr., placed sixth in her freshman speech at the FFA meet.

“ I have learned that it is best to stay calm while giving a speech,” said Gillespie.

Billy Schomaker, so., did the sophomore speech and Jacob Manbeck, fr., did the other freshman speech.

Farm Management also held good fortune for the Humboldt FFA team. Josh Honas, sr., and Shelley Herder, so., both participated in Farm Management section of the meeting. Herder placed ninth individually and the team as a whole placed sixth overall in Farm Management.

“ I learned a lot of terms and the test was not as bad as I thought it was,” said Herder.

The Humboldt FFA team will leave on Jan. 18 to participate in Agronomy and Ag. Mechanics at Yates Center.
