Several students and community members attended the Harlem
Rockets game on Oct. 16.
“
I felt the game turned out well; we had a decent crowd, and I think everyone
who came enjoyed the night,” said Jason Jones, boys’ basketball
coach.
Proceeds from the game went to the high school boys’ basketball team.
“We were able to raise around $1400 for our boys’ basketball team,” Jones
said.
The money that was raised for the team will be used for various equipment.

the Harlem Rockets.
The finalscore was 54-76 with the Harlem Rockets the victors. Several students

This money is going to be spent on new practice jerseys and shorts for our

To remember
High school and middle school students purchase souvenirs
at the Rockets game.
Two participants were easily recognized by students. Eric Carlson
and Rob Myers, both high school instructors, played in the Rockets game with
other
basketball
alumni.
“
Putting on a Cubs uniform brought back a lot of memories,” said Myers. “I
enjoyed getting to play with the younger guys as well.”
Jones expressed his satisfaction with the event and stated that he hopes it
can happen again.
“
I would like to say thank you to everyone who volunteered to help make the night
a success,” said Jones.

FCA members are currently in the process of planning
many activities that will occur throughout this school year. Several speakers
have attended FCA morning meetings to discuss other activities they could
look into this year.
These different speakers included music artists, mission
workers, and athletes that have spoken to the FCA members in the past.
“FCA activities allow students to share their faith in their school and
their communities,” said Jason Feeback, FCA sponsor. “Through FCA
we hope to impact Humboldt High School in a powerful way.”
At present, members are in the process of organizing another dodgeball tournament
like the one held last year. They are hoping to defend their championship title
from last spring.

Seniors attended a college fair at Allen County Community College
on Oct. 24. Over 30 post-secondary schools attended this fair including four-year
colleges, private schools, as well as several different community colleges
from all around Kansas.
Seniors who were in attendance received application packets full of information.
When asked if the school fair was beneficial for seniors, Jason Feeback, counselor,
said, “Yes, it’s good for students to see what colleges are out there.”
Many seniors found the experience to be helpful when planning for their future
education. Everybody got an opportunity to meet college representatives, talk
about schools, and had a chance to sign up for enrollment if they wanted to.
“It was a great opportunity for seniors to get great ideas for college
and get information on programs at different colleges and stuff about financial
aid,” said Samantha Kerns, sr. “I think seniors next year should
get a chance to do the same thing.”
