Humboldt, April 18- With a 4-6 record, the varsity boys did not do so well against the Yates Center Wildcats, losing 4-11 in their first game and 10-17 in their second.

Tyler Thomas, sr., pitched the first five innings, allowing only six hits, nine runs, and four walks, as well as six strikeouts. Garrett Fitzmaurice, sr., pitched the remaining two innings with two hits, two runs, one walk, and one strikeout.

Offensively, Fitzmaurice went 1-2 and had three RBI’s, while Tyler Thomas went 1-3 and had two stolen bases.

“We had one error in game one. Yates Center out hustled us, played harder, and wanted to win more than us. Their pitcher did a nice job shutting down our bats,” said Jeremy Weilert, head coach.

In game two, the boys seemed to do better. Tory Thomas, jr., pitched for almost six innings and allowed six hits and three walks, but managed 12 strikeouts. Thad Wells, fr., pitched the rest of the game, allowing two hits, two walks, and pulling off one strikeout.

Brent Frederick went 2-5, with one triple and one RBI. Tory Thomas went 1-2 with a triple. Wells went 2-3, managed a triple, and also had three RBI’s.

“We had many errors in game two. It is hard to win a game when you have that many errors,” said Weilert.
