To celebrate the New Year, the Fire Escape Coffee House
in Chanute threw a New Year’s Eve Party costing $15 for anyone who
wanted to attend.
“I really loved having all of my friends around me. We got to listen to
some awesome bands, which totally made the night! I also loved counting down
the new year. We all stood around and counted out loud and blew horns and whistles
when the new year finally came,” said Michaela Myer, jr.
The Coffee House had three bands play at the party, which included Neviah Nevi,
Uncommon Sense, and Radial Angel.
The party started at 8 p.m. and ended at 1 a.m. Party favors and food were provided
for everyone in attendance.
“Well, of course it was a Saturday night, so I had my radio show, but also
Radial Angel, one of my personal favorite Christian groups, was there so I had
to go. Being at the Coffee House was a safe way to spend the New Year’s
Eve. The students were out early enough to where we did not have to worry about
drunk drivers,” said Chelsy Wright, jr.
At midnight, a praise and worship session was held with Radial Angel. There was
also a guest speaker, Adrian Coleston who discussed his past issues with drugs
and alcohol and how the Coffee House helped him overcome his problems. The party
was intended to keep kids off the streets and safe during New Year’s celebrations.
“The bands were awesome and the guest speaker was awesome, as well. It
was a fun night with friends,” said Janelle Herder, jr.

How about a shirt or two?
Melanie Weilert and Jesse Lundine, srs., sell
Humboldt Cubs
apparel during a home basketball game as a fundraiser.
Seniors have been busy, for the past few months by planning to
take a senior trip to Dallas, Texas, that will be presented to the school Board
of Education for further approval.
The seniors have plenty of fundraisers going on that include selling
t-shirts and other Humboldt clothing during home basketball games. The
forms to order
the apparel can be found in all of the district’s school offices. Seniors
are also raising money by selling raffle tickets for donated prizes by area
businesses.
Any senior students who want to be able to participate in the class trip will
have to sell the required amounts for the fundraisers. The class of 2006 is also
asking for and accepting donations from area businesses. Businesses that do donate
will be thanked publicly in the Cub Tracks newspaper.
The senior class contains 46 students who voted on the class colors (black
and silver), the class flower (tiger lily), the class motto (by Martin Luther
King,
Jr.), and the class song (“In This Diary” by The Ataris). Senior
meetings will be scheduled soon and all seniors need to attend.
Reminder:
Senior photos for the yearbook are due
on February 2, 2006.
Photos should be wallet-sized and in full color,
and in vertical orientation.
Senior photos should be brought to
